Wisconsin Supreme Court Dismisses Democratic AGs Effort to Halt Elon Musks $1M Voter Giveaway

The Wisconsin Supreme Court recently made a significant decision regarding Elon Musk’s plans to distribute large checks to voters. On a Sunday evening, just before Musk was set to host a town hall event in Green Bay, the court unanimously decided not to intervene in a last-minute request from the state attorney general, Josh Kaul. This request aimed to stop Musk from giving away $1 million checks to two voters who had signed a petition against what Musk termed "activist judges."

Musk’s event was organized by America PAC, and he handed out the checks to highlight his support for a grassroots movement opposing certain judicial decisions. While holding a giant check, Musk explained that the goal was to draw attention to the issue, saying, "It’s like, we need to get attention….somewhat inevitably, when I do this….it causes the legacy media to, like, kind of lose their minds."

In Wisconsin, voters elect Supreme Court justices to serve 10-year terms. Musk was backing Republican candidate Brad Schimel, a former state attorney general. Kaul argued that Musk’s actions violated state election laws, specifically a statute that prohibits offering anything of value to influence voting behavior. He asserted that the checks were an attempt to improperly incentivize voters, even though the recipients had already cast their ballots in the election.

Musk’s legal team countered that the payments were intended to foster a movement against activist judges rather than to support a specific candidate. Schimel, in a statement to Fox News, distanced himself from Musk’s financial activities, stating he does not control spending from outside groups.

As the situation unfolded, it became clear that Musk’s unconventional approach was meant to stir public interest in the election and the judicial system. The town hall event, however, had specific entry requirements, allowing only those who signed the petition to attend. This unique campaign tactic, while controversial, aimed to engage voters in a discussion about judicial activism and its implications for the state.

The outcome of this event and the broader election remains uncertain, but Musk’s involvement has certainly added a layer of intrigue to the Wisconsin Supreme Court race.
