United Airlines Flight from Hawaii to LAX Diverted Due to Potential Security Issue Discovered in Bathroom

A United Airlines flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles was diverted back to Honolulu on Tuesday due to a potential security issue. The flight, United Airlines 1169, took off from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport around 9:40 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time. About an hour and a half into the flight, the crew decided to turn back.

After landing, the Boeing 777, which was carrying 339 passengers and 10 crew members, was searched by police. United Airlines did not disclose what was found during the search. The Federal Aviation Administration did not comment on the situation.

Passengers reported waiting on the tarmac for approximately four hours while law enforcement and dogs checked each individual. One passenger shared that someone had written a message on the bathroom mirror indicating there was a bomb on board.

Following the incident, United Airlines arranged for affected passengers to be rebooked on another flight to Los Angeles later that evening. The airline emphasized its commitment to passenger safety and security during the event.
