A carjacking suspect was arrested on Tuesday after leading police on a brief chase with two young children in the vehicle. The incident happened in Inglewood, California, when Culver City police attempted to pull over Aaron Flenoy, a 33-year-old man with a serious criminal history, including a $5.7 million warrant for felony carjacking and weapons charges.
As officers approached, Flenoy initially stopped but then sped away, running a red light at the intersection of Centinela and La Brea avenues. In the process, he collided with another vehicle. The chase lasted less than two minutes, according to police.
Inside Flenoy’s car were two children, ages 5 and 9, along with Timberline Davenport, who also had outstanding warrants. Following the crash, all passengers were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Fortunately, the children suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle was unharmed. Flenoy and Davenport sustained minor injuries.
Authorities are now considering charges of child endangerment against Flenoy and Davenport. The situation has raised concerns about the safety of children in such dangerous circumstances, especially when involved with individuals with extensive criminal backgrounds. The police are continuing to investigate the events leading up to the chase and crash.
