A golf course owned by former President Donald Trump in Scotland was vandalized by a group of protesters on Saturday. The Palestine Action group claimed responsibility for the damage at the Trump Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire.
The protesters left their mark by splattering red paint on one of the buildings and digging up the greens. They also spray-painted messages like "free Palestine" and "fuck Trump" across the property. One of the more striking acts included carving the phrase “Gaza is not 4 sale” into the lawn, a reference to Trump’s controversial idea of taking control of the Gaza Strip to create a prosperous area.
A spokesperson for Palestine Action expressed their discontent with Trump’s approach to Gaza, stating, “To make that clear, we have shown him that his own property is not safe from acts of resistance.” They emphasized their ongoing commitment to opposing what they view as U.S.-Israeli colonialism in the region.
In a statement, the group described their actions as a response to perceived threats against the Palestinian people, asserting they aimed to disrupt Trump’s plans for Gaza. They highlighted that their actions were meant to show widespread opposition to Trump’s intentions.
In addition to the vandalism at the golf course, Palestine Action also reported another protest where an individual climbed the Elizabeth Tower in London, displaying a Palestinian flag.
The incident at Trump Turnberry underscores the ongoing tensions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and reflects how deeply these issues resonate in various parts of the world.
