Suspect Arrested After Allegedly Aiming Gun at LAPD Helicopter and Lying by Chatsworth Pool

A man was arrested in Chatsworth on Friday after he pointed a shotgun at a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter. The incident unfolded in the backyard of a home on Tipico Street, where the suspect lay by a pool for several hours while police surrounded the area.

The LAPD received a call around 2:20 p.m. about a suspect involved in an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived, they found the man aiming a shotgun at the helicopter overhead. After that, he lay down by the pool. It remains unclear if he fired at the helicopter.

As the situation developed, a SWAT team was called in. They took the suspect into custody at approximately 6:18 p.m. Details about the man’s identity or any charges against him have not been released yet.

During the standoff, nearby residents were evacuated but were allowed to return home after the suspect was arrested. Helicopter footage showed the man lying face down next to the pool, with two shotguns visible on a nearby table. He appeared to be moving slightly while lying there.

The homeowners reported that they did not know the suspect or where the weapons came from. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
