Rookie Pitcher with Triple-Digit Fastball Makes MLB History with Perfect Game Attempt in Second Start

The Milwaukee Brewers made headlines recently with the impressive debut of pitcher Jacob Misiorowski. The 23-year-old made his first Major League Baseball appearance on June 12, showcasing his talent by throwing a no-hitter for five innings before being pulled due to cramps. Just days later, in his second outing on June 20 against the Minnesota Twins, he took a perfect game into the seventh inning.

Misiorowski’s debut was nothing short of remarkable. He struck out six batters and reached speeds of 103 mph with his fastball. In fact, he became the first starting pitcher since 1900 to start his career with 11 consecutive no-hit innings. This achievement has certainly caught the attention of baseball fans and analysts alike.

During the game against the Twins, Misiorowski faced a challenge when he issued a walk to Byron Buxton. Shortly after, Matt Wallner hit a home run, ending Misiorowski’s stellar run. He left the game to a standing ovation, having thrown 86 pitches, with 60 of them being strikes. The Brewers were leading 8-2 when he exited, and they eventually won the game 17-6.

Reflecting on his performance, Misiorowski expressed excitement about his journey so far, saying, "I think this is exactly how I ever dreamed of it coming along." He felt more at ease in his second game compared to his first, where nerves had been high.

His fastball was not the only thing impressive; he also threw a slider and changeup that were clocked in the mid-90s. In total, he hit triple digits 29 times during the game, a significant increase from his first outing.

Interestingly, Misiorowski’s success has led to some changes in the Brewers’ roster. His call-up resulted in veteran pitcher Aaron Civale being moved to the bullpen, which eventually led to Civale requesting a trade to the Chicago White Sox.

As of now, the Brewers hold a record of 41-35 and are 4.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. Misiorowski’s outstanding start could be just what the team needs as they push for a playoff spot.
