Real Madrid Defeats Getafe to Stay Within Reach of LaLiga Leaders Barcelona

Arda Guler scored the only goal as Real Madrid defeated Getafe 1-0 in a LaLiga match on Wednesday. This victory brings Madrid closer to Barcelona, who currently lead the league by four points.

The young Turkish international found the net with a powerful shot from outside the box midway through the first half. This goal came after a missed opportunity by Brahim Diaz, but Guler was quick to capitalize on the rebound, sending a 20-yard strike past Getafe’s goalkeeper David Soria.

Real Madrid’s win was crucial, especially after Barcelona had secured a similar 1-0 victory against Mallorca the previous day. With this result, Madrid remains in the title race as the season approaches its final stages.

In this match, 18-year-old Brazilian striker Endrick made his first league start, filling in for the injured Kylian Mbappe. England’s Jude Bellingham was placed on the bench for this game. Endrick nearly scored his second LaLiga goal, but Soria managed to deflect his shot, and Djene cleared the ball off the line.

Getafe had their chances too. Mauro Arambarri missed a golden opportunity in the second half when he shot wide with only Thibaut Courtois to beat. Courtois later made crucial saves in stoppage time to deny Getafe’s attempts to equalize. Substitute Alvaro Rodriguez, on loan from Madrid, also came close but was thwarted by Courtois.

Looking ahead, Real Madrid will face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday, a highly anticipated clash that will be one of the last meetings between the two teams this season.

In other LaLiga action, Athletic Bilbao secured a 1-0 victory over Las Palmas, bolstering their chances for Champions League qualification. They currently sit fourth in the standings, eight points clear of fifth-placed Villarreal.
