Pistons End Record Playoff Losing Streak with Game 2 Victory Over Knicks

The Detroit Pistons ended their long playoff losing streak with a 100-94 win over the New York Knicks on Monday night. This victory marked their first playoff win since 2008 and leveled the Eastern Conference first-round series at one game each.

Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with an impressive performance, scoring 33 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Dennis Schroder made a significant impact off the bench, contributing 20 points, including a crucial three-pointer that gave Detroit the lead with just under a minute left in the game.

The Pistons had a strong start, leading by as much as 15 points in the third quarter. However, the Knicks fought back, with Jalen Brunson scoring 14 of his game-high 37 points in the fourth quarter. Brunson’s efforts helped tie the game at 94-94 with 1:15 remaining.

But Schroder quickly responded, hitting a three-pointer that put the Pistons ahead for good. The Knicks struggled to score on their next few possessions, while Detroit sealed the win with free throws from Schroder and Jalen Duren.

In addition to Cunningham and Schroder, Tobias Harris contributed 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Duren added 12 points and 13 boards. For the Knicks, Mikal Bridges scored 19 points, while stars Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby were held to 10 points each.

This win was especially significant for the Pistons, who had not won a playoff game since their last appearance in 2019. Coach JB Bickerstaff praised his team’s focus and determination, stating that they approached the game with a businesslike mentality and learned from their previous loss.

The Pistons will look to build on this momentum as they head home for Game 3 on Thursday.
