Pakistan has raised alarms about a potential attack from India, claiming it has “credible intelligence” that such an action could occur within days. This warning comes amid rising tensions as gunfire has erupted along the Line of Control, the dividing line in the disputed region of Kashmir.
The situation escalated after a tragic incident on April 22, when a terrorist attack in Kashmir led to the deaths of 26 tourists. The group responsible for the attack, The Resistance Front, is linked to the Pakistan-based militant organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. This incident has strained diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan, prompting both nations to revoke visas for their citizens.
In retaliation for India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan has barred Indian nationals from entering its territory. India has responded by reducing its diplomatic staff and closing the only land border crossing between the two countries.
As tensions mount, Pakistan has shut its airspace to Indian airlines and halted all trade with India, including through third countries. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has vowed to hold accountable those responsible for the attack and hinted at possible military action.

The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has urged both nations to avoid an all-out war, warning of dire consequences. Meanwhile, Indian forces have begun operations targeting homes of suspected militants in Kashmir, further escalating the conflict.
With both countries armed with nuclear weapons, the situation remains precarious. The current tensions are reminiscent of the brink of war experienced in 2019, following another deadly attack in Kashmir.
