Newport Beach Mayor Joe Stapleton Kicks Off Reelection Campaign to Preserve Orange Countys Republican Leadership

Newport Beach Mayor Joe Stapleton kicked off his reelection campaign last month, aiming to maintain the city’s conservative values amid California’s shifting political landscape. The fundraiser, held on March 27, was a significant success, raising an impressive $175,000 in just one night.

Stapleton’s campaign reported that the event attracted 180 top supporters, showcasing strong community backing. Hosted by the Gitibin family, the atmosphere was energetic and enthusiastic, reinforcing Stapleton’s position as a respected leader in Newport Beach.

First elected to the Newport Beach City Council in 2022, Stapleton became mayor in 2024 after a council vote. His election marked a historic moment for the city, as it welcomed its first woman-majority city council.

At the fundraiser, Stapleton emphasized his commitment to making Newport Beach a model city, contrasting it with the challenges faced in larger cities like Los Angeles. He acknowledged the progress made but noted that there is still work to be done. “Strong leadership matters,” he said, expressing gratitude for the support he received.

During his time in office, Stapleton has achieved notable accomplishments, including reducing the homeless population in Newport Beach to just 11 individuals, enhancing police capabilities, and securing a prestigious Class 1 rating for the city’s fire department.

As of now, no challengers have emerged to contest Stapleton’s reelection bid. The mayor’s strong fundraising and community support indicate a solid foundation as he seeks another term in office.
