Netanyahu Presents Fetterman with a Silver-Plated Beeper Following Praise for Israels Lebanon Pager Operation

Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania recently visited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, where he received a unique gift: a silver-plated beeper. This gesture came after Fetterman praised Israel’s recent operation against Hezbollah, which involved detonating pagers worn by the group’s operatives.

Fetterman has been vocal about his support for Israel, especially amid criticism from some within his own party regarding Israel’s military actions in Gaza. He has called for Hamas to release all hostages taken during their attack on October 7, 2023, which resulted in over 1,200 deaths.

During his visit, Fetterman reiterated his commitment to Israel, stating, “Hamas does not want peace. I unapologetically, 100% stand with Israel.” He shared this message on social media while still in Israel.

The beeper gift symbolizes a significant military operation Israel conducted in September 2024, in which it targeted Hezbollah operatives in Lebanon. Fetterman expressed his appreciation for the gift, saying, “When that story broke, I was like, ‘Oh, I love it, I love it.’ And now, it’s like, thank you for this.”

In exchange, Fetterman presented Netanyahu with a framed article honoring his brother, Yoni Netanyahu, a soldier who was killed during a famous hostage rescue operation in Entebbe, Uganda, in 1976. Yoni is regarded as a national hero in Israel.

Netanyahu humorously explained the beeper’s significance, saying, “What can I give a man who has everything? How about giving him a beeper? This is a silver-plated beeper. The real beeper is, like, one-tenth the weight. It’s nothing, but it changes history.”

This meeting highlights Fetterman’s strong stance on Israel and his willingness to break from the more critical views held by some Democratic colleagues. As tensions continue in the region, Fetterman’s visit and the exchanged gifts serve as a reminder of the complex relationships and ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
