The Pentagon and the U.S. Naval Academy are taking steps to support the Trump administration’s efforts to eliminate "woke" initiatives across federal agencies. Recently, the Naval Academy announced it has stopped using affirmative action in its admissions process. This change reverses a policy that the academy had previously defended as vital for promoting diversity and national security.
In a recent federal court filing, the academy confirmed this shift. Additionally, the office of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has instructed the Naval Academy to identify and remove books related to diversity, equity, and inclusion from its Nimitz Library.
A defense official, who spoke anonymously, revealed that military service academies did not initially believe that President Trump’s executive order from January 29, which aims to end what he calls "radical indoctrination" in K-12 schools, applied to them. The defense secretary’s office clarified that the order should indeed apply to the academies and expects full compliance.
Cmdr. Tim Hawkins, a Navy spokesman, stated that the Naval Academy is dedicated to following all presidential directives and is reviewing its library collection to ensure it aligns with these new guidelines. He emphasized that the Navy is handling these changes with professionalism and efficiency, keeping national security goals in mind.
