Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies detained several individuals on Sunday after discovering a body inside a U-Haul truck in Lancaster. The investigation began when deputies responded to a missing person report at the Shadow Park Inn motel around 1:49 a.m.
Upon reviewing security footage from the motel, deputies saw a U-Haul leaving the area shortly before their arrival. They tracked the vehicle to a nearby home, where they made the grim discovery. According to the Sheriff’s Department, deputies found the body in a large trash bin located in the rear cargo area of the truck.
Homicide detectives are currently investigating the case, but they have not released the identity of the deceased or confirmed whether foul play is suspected. The motel manager did not respond to requests for comment.
Authorities have taken an unspecified number of people into custody for questioning as they work to piece together the circumstances surrounding this incident. The investigation is still in its early stages, and more information is expected to emerge as detectives continue their work.
