A former teacher from a Michigan charter school has been charged with engaging in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student. Jocelyn Sanroman, 26, was accused of this misconduct while she was teaching at Oakside Prep Academy in Waterford Township, which is about 30 miles from Detroit.
The alleged relationship took place in 2023, and it came to light when Sanroman confided in a fellow teacher. That teacher reported the situation to the police, prompting an investigation. Prosecutors have charged Sanroman with third-degree sexual conduct, a serious offense that could lead to a prison sentence of up to 15 years if she is convicted.
As of Monday morning, Sanroman had not yet been arraigned, but her mugshot was released by officials in Oakland County.
