Mbappés Brace at Villarreal Propels Real Madrid to LaLiga Summit

Kylian Mbappe led Real Madrid to a thrilling comeback victory over Villarreal, scoring both goals in a 2-1 win that puts them at the top of the LaLiga standings. The match took place on Saturday at Estadio de la Ceramica.

Villarreal struck first, taking the lead just seven minutes into the game. A corner kick from Alex Baena was deflected by Aurelien Tchouameni, allowing Juan Foyth to score from close range. Real Madrid responded quickly, leveling the match in the 17th minute. Mbappe capitalized on a blocked shot from Brahim Diaz, finishing from close range to equalize.

Just six minutes later, Mbappe scored again, netting his 20th league goal of the season. He received a well-timed through ball from Lucas Vazquez and calmly slotted it home. Mbappe nearly completed his hat-trick in the second half but was denied by an offside call after connecting with a pass from Vinicius Jr.

Real Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti commented on the team’s demanding schedule, noting that this would be the last match played with less than 72 hours of rest after their intense Champions League win over Atletico Madrid earlier in the week.

With this victory, Real Madrid sits atop the LaLiga table with 60 points, three ahead of Barcelona, who have a game in hand. Barcelona’s match against Osasuna was postponed, and they will face Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
