A fire broke out at a military facility in Russia’s Vladimir region, causing a significant explosion. This incident occurred on Tuesday and was reported by both Russian and Ukrainian media, which shared videos showing large flames and smoke rising from the site.
According to Russia’s Ministry of Defence, the explosion was caused by a fire in a storage area for ammunition at the 51st Arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate. They stated that the fire resulted from unsafe practices while handling explosive materials. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or casualties.
The military site is located about 130 kilometers, or 80 miles, northeast of Moscow. Local reports mentioned that a resident from a nearby village saw a shell fall from the warehouse onto a neighbor’s house, but it did not detonate, and no one was inside at the time.
The governor of the Vladimir region, Alexander Avdeyev, confirmed that a blast had occurred and promised more information would be shared soon. He also warned that journalists and residents could face fines for sharing unofficial details about the incident.
A commission has been established to investigate the cause of the fire and the subsequent explosion. As the situation develops, authorities are expected to provide further updates.
