Man Dies in Collision with LAPD Cruiser in Sun Valley

A tragic traffic accident in Sun Valley has left one man dead and two Los Angeles police officers injured. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Monday in the 10900 block of West Saticoy Street.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the deceased man, who was approximately 65 years old, was making a left turn from Cleon Avenue onto Saticoy Street when his vehicle collided with an LAPD cruiser. The police officers were responding to a domestic violence call, traveling east on Saticoy Street with their lights and sirens activated.

Emergency responders worked quickly to extricate the man from his vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released. The two officers involved were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were reported to be non-life-threatening.

Witnesses reported seeing significant damage to both vehicles involved. The man’s silver Honda sedan had visible damage on the driver’s side, while the LAPD Ford SUV sustained damage to its front end.

At the intersection where the crash occurred, there is a stop sign on Cleon Avenue, but Saticoy Street does not have a traffic signal or stop sign. This has raised questions about the safety of the intersection and the circumstances leading up to the collision.

As the investigation continues, no further details about the incident have been disclosed. The community is left mourning the loss of life and reflecting on the dangers present on the roads.
