Man allegedly threw injured cat BooBoo into dumpster in Orange County, authorities report

A man was arrested after a video surfaced showing him tossing an injured cat into a dumpster in Orange County. The incident involving BooBoo, the cat, took place in Laguna Hills. Authorities reported that the cat was left in the dumpster for about 15 hours before being discovered just minutes before the dumpster was scheduled to be emptied.

The video, which was shared widely, led to a quick response from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Shortly after the footage was released, a woman identified the cat as her pet and the man as her roommate. The sheriff’s department arrested the suspect on charges of felony animal cruelty.

BooBoo is currently receiving treatment for extensive injuries at a veterinary hospital. Mission Viejo Animal Services Director Brynn Lavison expressed gratitude for the community’s concern and support for BooBoo’s recovery. Many residents have donated to help cover her medical expenses and have inquired about adopting her once she is healthy.

The incident took place near the 25000 block of Cabot Road on a Monday evening. City officials and animal services are committed to ensuring BooBoo’s well-being and reuniting her with her owner. The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
