Man Allegedly Shoots at LAPD Helicopter, Fatally Struck by Police Gunfire

A man was shot and killed by police in Reseda on Sunday evening after he allegedly fired a gun at a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter. The incident unfolded around 6:25 p.m. when officers received a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 6400 block of Reseda Boulevard.

When police arrived, they saw the suspect run into an apartment complex near Reseda and Victory boulevards. An LAPD helicopter, which was also dispatched to the scene, reported that the man appeared to shoot at the aircraft. Fortunately, initial reports indicated that the helicopter was not hit.

The situation escalated as police pursued the suspect into the rear alley of the apartment complex. There, an exchange of gunfire occurred, resulting in the man being shot by officers. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived but pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that no officers or civilians were injured during the incident, and they stated that there are no outstanding suspects. The LAPD’s Force Investigation Division is now looking into the shooting. They recovered the suspect’s handgun and are reviewing video and other evidence.
