Man Allegedly Shoots at LAPD Helicopter and is Killed by Police

A man was shot and killed by police in Reseda on Sunday evening after he allegedly fired a gun at a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter. The incident unfolded around 6:25 p.m. when officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on Reseda Boulevard.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers saw the suspect running into an apartment complex near Reseda and Victory boulevards. An LAPD helicopter also arrived and reported that the man appeared to fire his handgun at the aircraft. Fortunately, initial reports indicated that the helicopter was not hit.

Police pursued the suspect into the rear alley of the apartment complex, where the shooting occurred. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the man dead at the scene. No officers or civilians were injured during the incident.

The LAPD’s Force Investigation Division is now looking into the shooting. They have recovered the suspect’s handgun and will examine it along with video and physical evidence. As of now, there are no outstanding suspects connected to this event.

This shooting marks the 11th instance of LAPD gunfire in 2025, according to police records. The investigation continues as authorities gather more details about the situation.
