LeBron and Bronny James Respond to 2024 Lawsuit, Rejecting All Allegations

LeBron James and his son Bronny have firmly denied all allegations made against them in a lawsuit related to a car accident that occurred in 2022. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court last fall, claims that the father-son duo, both players for the Los Angeles Lakers, were negligent in their ownership and operation of a vehicle involved in the incident. The plaintiffs, Kiara McGillen and April Lopez, allege that the accident caused them injuries and damage to their vehicle while they were driving on Pearblossom Highway near Littlerock in the Antelope Valley.

In their legal response submitted on Thursday, attorneys for the James family categorically denied each allegation presented in the complaint. The filing states, “These answering defendants deny each and every allegation contained in the complaint and further deny that plaintiffs have been damaged in the sum or sums alleged, or any other sum or sums, or at all.” The response also outlines 14 defenses against the claims, asserting that if any injuries or damages occurred, they were caused by individuals other than LeBron and Bronny James, or by the plaintiffs themselves failing to act as a reasonably prudent person would.

The lawsuit was filed just one day after LeBron and Bronny made history as the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game. The plaintiffs claim they sustained personal injuries that have caused ongoing pain and discomfort, requiring medical treatment. They are seeking unspecified damages for their claims.

Interestingly, shortly after the lawsuit was lodged, the California Highway Patrol’s Antelope Valley office reported that it could not locate any accident report corresponding to the date and location cited in the lawsuit. This raises questions about the validity of the claims, as the lawsuit does not clarify whether the CHP was notified of the alleged incident at the time.

As the legal proceedings unfold, LeBron and Bronny are not only defending their names but are also seeking relief, including reimbursement for legal costs associated with the lawsuit. The case has drawn significant media attention, particularly in light of the James family’s prominent status in the NBA. Both sides have yet to provide further comments, leaving the situation in a state of uncertainty as they prepare for the next steps in court.
