A lawsuit has been filed against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc. after a disturbing incident at one of its Florida theme parks. The case centers on Jorge Diaz Vega Jr., a former employee accused of taking inappropriate photos of female guests. The lawsuit was initiated by a family member of an alleged victim and claims that Disney failed to protect its visitors from Diaz Vega, who was arrested in 2023 for allegedly filming up the skirts of over 600 women while working in the Star Wars section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The lawsuit, which spans 18 pages, alleges that Disney did not properly supervise Diaz Vega after he was reported for photographing a co-worker without consent. The plaintiff argues that Disney’s decision to retain Diaz Vega after this incident posed a serious risk to guests, particularly to the plaintiff’s 14-year-old granddaughter.
According to the lawsuit, Disney employees should have been aware of Diaz Vega’s behavior, given the numerous images and videos found on his phone. The complaint states that Disney’s negligence contributed to a dangerous environment for park visitors. The family is seeking over $50,000 in damages and a jury trial.
In 2023, a woman at Disney’s Hollywood Studios alerted security after claiming a man in a Star Wars costume took a photo up her granddaughter’s dress. The following day, Diaz Vega was caught by a security guard taking videos of a 19-year-old guest. He later admitted to police that recording such videos was a "guilty pleasure," stating it was hard to find similar content online.
Diaz Vega is facing multiple charges of video voyeurism and has pleaded not guilty. He was also arrested in June 2023 for similar behavior at a local Publix grocery store, where he was accused of taking photos up women’s dresses. When confronted, he reportedly asked not to involve the police, claiming he would delete the pictures.
Disney has not yet commented on the lawsuit or the incidents involving Diaz Vega. The case raises serious questions about guest safety and employee oversight at one of the world’s most popular theme parks.
