Jim Jordan: "We Deserve Answers Regarding January 6"

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) emphasized the need for transparency regarding the federal government’s actions during the January 6, 2021, protest at the U.S. Capitol during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s "The Ingraham Angle." He stated that Americans are "entitled to answers" about the events surrounding that day and the subsequent federal response.

In a discussion with host Laura Ingraham, Jordan revealed that he and other lawmakers are actively pursuing subpoenas to obtain documents from the FBI related to what they describe as the "weaponization" of the agency under the Biden administration. Ingraham inquired about the timeline for receiving these documents, especially in light of recent leadership changes at the FBI. Jordan responded optimistically, indicating that they expect to receive the requested materials within the next few weeks.

Jordan underscored the importance of the information they are seeking, listing several key areas of concern. He highlighted issues surrounding the Biden administration’s directive regarding parents at school board meetings, which he characterized as labeling pro-life Catholics as extremists. Additionally, he raised questions about the presence of confidential human sources during the January 6 events, noting that there were 26 such sources, with 17 located in restricted areas and four inside the Capitol building. He pointed out that two of these individuals were allegedly invited by the FBI to be present that day.

The congressman expressed a desire to uncover details about these sources, including their compensation, duration of employment with the FBI, and how they managed to gain access to the Capitol. He asserted that the FBI has been withholding this information, and that some details can only be revealed through formal requests such as subpoenas.

Jordan’s comments come amidst ongoing scrutiny of the federal response to the Capitol riot and the broader implications of government actions in the context of civil liberties. As investigations continue, he and his colleagues remain committed to uncovering what they believe is essential information for the American public.
