ICE and DEA Capture Criminal Illegal Immigrants on Picturesque New England Island

Federal agents recently conducted a significant operation in Nantucket, Massachusetts, targeting illegal immigrants involved in criminal activities. The operation, which took place on a Tuesday, was a joint effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The DEA announced on social media that its agents worked alongside ICE and the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) unit from Boston to arrest individuals identified as "illegal criminal aliens" in the popular vacation spot. The arrests took place on the picturesque island, located about 30 miles south of Cape Cod.

Local reports confirmed that among those arrested was a man previously charged with serious crimes, including kidnapping and domestic assault. A woman was also apprehended, though authorities have not released their identities or countries of origin.

The DEA’s New England division stated it collaborated with federal partners to enhance immigration enforcement efforts. The U.S. Coast Guard assisted by transporting agents to the island and back to the mainland with one suspect in custody. The Nantucket Police Department also played a role by providing local knowledge and assistance during the operation.

In a press release, the Town of Nantucket mentioned that the police department had been contacted by the Department of Justice and DEA about their plans to serve an arrest warrant for a "violent offender." This operation follows a series of similar actions in the region, including previous arrests made by ICE in Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.

The recent efforts highlight ongoing federal initiatives to address illegal immigration and apprehend individuals accused of serious crimes. The DEA and ICE continue to work together, emphasizing the importance of safety and law enforcement in communities across the country.
