Mia Love, the former Republican congresswoman from Utah’s 4th district, has passed away at the age of 49 after a long battle with brain cancer. Her family shared the news on her X account, expressing gratitude for her influence in their lives. They noted that she died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones.
In a heartfelt message, her family reflected on her life, saying, “With grateful hearts filled to overflowing… Mia quietly slipped the bands of mortality and soared heavenward.” They thanked everyone for their support and mentioned that they would share details about her funeral and a public celebration of her life soon.
Just hours before her passing, Love expressed her gratitude to her friends and family. She spoke fondly of her father, who helped her build confidence, and shared her appreciation for her husband, Jason, in raising their children. Love urged her followers to find their voices and lead with character.
Mia Love served as the mayor of Saratoga Springs from 2010 to 2014 before being elected to the U.S. Congress, where she served from 2015 to 2019. Although she often disagreed with Donald Trump, her voting record showed she aligned with him 96% of the time during her time in office.
Following her death, many took to social media to honor her legacy. Utah Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson called her a “fearless leader” and praised her contributions to the nation. Vance Patrick from the Oakland County Republican Party described her as an “inspirational leader and trailblazer.”
Mia Love is survived by her husband and their three children. Her passing marks a significant loss for her family, friends, and the community she served.
