Fontana police officers shot and killed a man early Sunday morning after he allegedly pointed a gun at them. The incident occurred just after 1 a.m. in an apartment located in the 9100 block of Date Street.
The police were responding to a 911 call reporting domestic violence when they arrived at the scene. Upon opening the door, they encountered Kevin Reyes Portillo, 31, who was said to have brandished a firearm. Officers treated him at the location before he was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
