Father tragically killed while defending teenage son and mother during home invasion.

An Arcadia father was shot and killed during a suspected home invasion on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred around 6:26 p.m. at a residence on Woodland Lane, where a woman and her 13-year-old son were confronted by a stranger who forced his way into their home.

During the confrontation, the boy’s 61-year-old father was fatally shot by the intruder. The teenager quickly called 911, and emergency services from the Arcadia Fire Department arrived promptly to take the victim to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Authorities from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the case. They believe the incident may have been personally motivated, but the investigation is still ongoing. Sheriff’s Lt. Steven De Jong expressed concern for the family, noting how frightening the situation was for them. He emphasized the tragedy of a man losing his life in such a manner.

Fortunately, the woman and her son were not physically harmed during the ordeal. The assailant managed to escape the scene, but a weapon was recovered by investigators.
