Ex-Texas Megachurch Pastor Indicted for Child Sexual Abuse Charges

Cindy Clemishire has spoken out after nearly 43 years, expressing relief that justice is finally being served against Robert Morris for the crimes he committed against her. In a heartfelt statement, she thanked the authorities for their hard work and expressed hope that justice would prevail.

Morris, who founded Gateway Church in 2000, a large church with over 100,000 attendees, faced allegations from Clemishire last year. In response, he admitted to engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior with her. His lawyers have not commented on the latest developments.

On Wednesday, Gateway Church released a statement acknowledging the legal actions taking place in Oklahoma. They expressed gratitude for the justice system’s efforts to hold abusers accountable and shared their prayers for Clemishire, her family, and everyone affected by the situation.

Morris has been a notable figure, having served on a faith advisory council during President Trump’s first term. He even hosted Trump at Gateway Church in June 2020. However, a spokesperson for Trump stated that Morris would not be involved in the 2024 presidential campaign.

This case highlights the ongoing struggle for survivors of abuse to seek justice, even many years after the events occurred.
