Passengers at Denver International Airport faced a frightening situation when a plane caught fire on the tarmac. Videos shared on social media showed people standing on the wing of the aircraft and using a portable staircase to escape. Smoke filled the air, with light gray and thick black smoke billowing from the plane. Flames were visible near the right engine, where the fire appeared to be concentrated.
Mike Insalata, a local resident, captured footage of the blaze, highlighting the urgency of the situation. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently looking into what caused the fire.
This incident adds to a troubling trend in aviation safety. Just a few days prior, on February 25, two planes had to pull up and abort landings to avoid collisions at airports in Washington and Chicago. Earlier in February, a plane at Toronto Pearson Airport flipped over, and another incident involved a collision on the ground at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, where one plane’s wing struck another’s tail.
As investigations continue, this latest event raises concerns about passenger safety and the overall state of air travel.
