Elon Musk is considering legal action against former Congressman Jamaal Bowman after Bowman made some harsh accusations during a CNN appearance. On Thursday, Bowman called Musk a "Nazi" and a "thief" while discussing Musk’s leadership and the public’s trust in him.
Musk responded to these remarks on social media, stating, "I’ve had enough. Lawsuit inbound." This reaction came after Bowman criticized Musk’s management style, pointing to job cuts at Musk’s companies and a court ruling that required some laid-off employees to be reinstated.
During the CNN discussion, Bowman expressed his belief that the American people do not trust Musk and described him as incompetent. Host Abby Phillip tried to clarify that Bowman’s comments were his personal opinion, to which Bowman confirmed, “It is my opinion.”
This isn’t the first time Musk has faced accusations of antisemitism. In the past, some media outlets suggested he made a "Nazi salute" during a public appearance, a claim that was later debunked. Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, even urged him to take legal action against those who spread this narrative.
Supporters of Musk have rallied behind him, with some calling for him to sue Bowman for defamation. Senator Mike Lee and Representative Nancy Mace both voiced their support for Musk’s potential lawsuit, arguing that accusations like these should be challenged.
Journalist Andy Ngo added that CNN could also be at risk for allowing guests to make potentially defamatory statements without pushback. As this situation unfolds, it highlights the ongoing tensions between public figures and the media, as well as the broader discussions about free speech and accountability.
