Dershowitz: Harvard Law Prioritizes Politics Over Principles, Resulting in Figures Like Schiff, Raskin, and Warren

Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz made headlines during a recent appearance on Newsmax TV’s "The Record." He criticized the current state of legal education at prestigious institutions like Harvard Law School, claiming they focus more on winning than on principles and morality. This shift, he argues, has produced politicians like Senators Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren, along with Representative Jamie Raskin, who he believes prioritize short-term gains over long-term ethical considerations.

During the discussion with host Greta Van Susteren, Dershowitz reflected on the implications of court-packing, a topic that has gained traction among some Democrats. He expressed concern that such actions would lead to an endless cycle of political maneuvering. "If we start packing the court, we’ll never stop packing the court," he warned. He criticized politicians for being shortsighted and lacking an understanding of principled decision-making.

Dershowitz humorously pointed out that Schiff, Raskin, and Warren were all connected to Harvard, with Schiff being a former student and Raskin having attended his class. He lamented that the education they received did not emphasize enduring principles, which he believes has contributed to a decline in moral standards within Congress. He stated, "We are no longer a principled nation who make decisions based on neutral, objective principles that are enduring."

His comments reflect a broader concern about the direction of American politics and the role of education in shaping future leaders. Dershowitz’s critique raises questions about the responsibilities of law schools in preparing students not just to win cases but to uphold the values that underpin the legal system.
