Deadly weekend in South L.A. results in two fatalities and one injury

Three shootings over the weekend in South Los Angeles left two people dead and another critically injured. The incidents happened within a mile of each other in the Green Meadows neighborhood, raising concerns among local residents and law enforcement.

On Friday evening, around 7:30 p.m., a 13-year-old girl was shot in the head while inside her home on East 108th Street. Emergency dispatch reports indicated multiple shots were fired, and witnesses described a chaotic scene with people yelling outside. The girl was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but tragically died on Sunday.

The following day, a 31-year-old woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds on South San Pedro Street. She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. A small vigil was held in her memory outside a nearby corner store, where community members gathered to pay their respects.

The violence continued on Sunday morning when another shooting occurred near 103rd Street and Avalon Boulevard. Two men in a blue truck fired at a man sitting in his vehicle, leaving him critically injured. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities from the Los Angeles Police Department are investigating the shootings. They have not yet confirmed if the incidents are connected or if gang activity is involved. As the community grapples with these tragic events, many are left wondering about the safety of their neighborhoods and the underlying issues contributing to such violence.
