Crockett: "I Will Definitely Pursue an Impeachment Inquiry Against President Trump"

On a recent episode of WFAA’s “Inside Texas Politics,” Representative Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, expressed her intention to initiate an impeachment inquiry against former President Donald Trump if the Democrats regain control of the House in the 2026 midterm elections.

Crockett shared her hopes for the upcoming election, saying, “Once we get to the majority, which I’m hoping and praying we get to, next cycle, that allows me to start to open up and do the things that would look like an impeachment.” She acknowledged the complexities of moving forward with such a step, noting Trump’s previous impeachments, which did not result in a conviction.

The representative highlighted several issues she believes warrant investigation. She pointed to a $400 million plane deal with Qatar, questioning whether it violates the emoluments clause of the Constitution. Crockett also mentioned concerns about Trump’s involvement with cryptocurrency and alleged political favors related to pardons.

When asked directly if she would pursue impeachment, Crockett confidently responded, “I would absolutely at least do an inquiry. Absolutely.” Her comments reflect a growing sentiment among some Democrats to hold Trump accountable as they prepare for the next election cycle.

Crockett’s statements come in the context of a broader political landscape where impeachment has become a significant topic of discussion. As the 2026 midterms approach, the strategies and priorities of both parties will likely be closely scrutinized.
