Nearly 30,000 pounds of ready-to-eat beef sticks have been recalled due to reports of metal fragments found in the products. The recall was announced on Thursday after consumers raised concerns about the safety of Chomps Original Beef Sticks.
The company, Chomps, has also included Original Turkey sticks and other product lots in the recall. These products were made at Idaho Smokehouse Partners, located in Shelley, Idaho. The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, reported that they received two complaints from consumers about finding metal pieces in the beef sticks.
The affected products were packaged between January 16 and January 23 of this year. They were distributed to retail stores in California and Illinois. The FSIS is urging anyone who has purchased these items to discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
This recall highlights the importance of food safety and the need for companies to respond quickly to consumer complaints. If you have these products at home, it’s best to check your pantry and ensure you don’t have any of the recalled items. For more information, consumers can visit the company’s website or the FSIS site.
