A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Menghan Zhuang, a 23-year-old student at the California Institute of the Arts. Zhuang, who was also known as Emily King, was found dead in her condominium in Newhall on February 4, 2025.
Jack Minh Terry was taken into custody on February 16 in Garden Grove, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 27.
Zhuang was discovered unresponsive by her roommate, who called 911. When emergency responders arrived, they found Zhuang with multiple injuries to her upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives believe that Terry was seen leaving Zhuang’s residence on the day she was found. The investigation led to his arrest after authorities sought the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in the case.
Zhuang, a Chinese national, was studying at CalArts when her life was tragically cut short. The community is mourning her loss as the investigation continues. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to reach out to the Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau.
