A burglary suspect was shot and killed early Thursday morning in Lynwood, California. Officials believe he was accidentally shot by one of his accomplices during a break-in that went awry.
The incident occurred around 1:26 a.m. on Linden Street. Five men, dressed in dark clothing, entered a home in the area. They were startled by a resident who was inside the house. In their panic, the suspects fled the scene, but one of them fired a gun, hitting one of their own in the process.
When deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene, they found the man who had been shot. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the location. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
Witnesses reported seeing the other suspects running north on Linden Street after the shooting. Homicide detectives are now investigating the incident, trying to piece together what happened and locate the remaining suspects involved in the break-in.
