Bucks Damian Lillard Suffers Calf Blood Clot, Out Indefinitely

Milwaukee Bucks star guard Damian Lillard has been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in his right calf. The team announced this concerning news, stating that Lillard is currently on blood-thinning medication that has stabilized his condition. He will continue to undergo testing, but the Bucks have not provided a timeline for his return.

Bucks general manager Jon Horst emphasized the team’s commitment to Lillard’s health, saying, “Damian’s health is our No. 1 priority.” Horst noted that the team will support Lillard as he meets strict criteria to ensure it is safe for him to return to play. Doctors believe that this situation is very unlikely to happen again, and the quick identification and treatment of the issue is a positive sign for his recovery.

Lillard, who is 34 years old, last played on March 18 against the Golden State Warriors. Since then, he has missed the last three games, initially being sidelined due to a calf injury. This season, he has been performing well, averaging 24.9 points, 7.1 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game over 58 games, all of which he started. His career averages stand at 25.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.3 rebounds over 900 games with the Portland Trail Blazers and the Bucks.

As the Bucks approach the end of the regular season with 11 games left, they currently hold fifth place in the Eastern Conference. However, they are also dealing with injuries to key players, including Jericho Sims and Bobby Portis Jr., which adds to the team’s challenges during this critical period. Fans and teammates alike will be hoping for a swift recovery for Lillard as the playoffs loom ahead.
