Airman Arrested in Connection with Murder of Woman Who Disappeared in August

An airman from Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota has been charged with the murder of a woman who had been missing since August. Quinterius Chappelle, 24, faces federal second-degree murder charges in the death of 21-year-old Sahela Sangrait, according to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.

Sangrait’s remains were discovered on March 4 by a hiker about 37 miles southwest of the Air Force base. The body was found in a state of advanced decomposition south of Hill City, which is located 27 miles west of Rapid City. Authorities confirmed her identity last week.
