Suspect Arrested After Allegedly Aiming Gun at LAPD Helicopter and Lying Near Chatsworth Pool

A man was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on Friday after a tense standoff at a home in Chatsworth. The incident began around 2:20 p.m. when police received a report about a suspect threatening someone with a shotgun.

When officers arrived at the scene in the 20000 block of Tipico Street, they found the suspect pointing a shotgun at a police helicopter flying overhead. Instead of fleeing, he chose to lie down by a pool in the backyard of the home. Authorities surrounded the area, and for several hours, the man remained there, seemingly unbothered.

During the standoff, it was unclear whether the suspect fired any shots at the helicopter. Members of a SWAT team were eventually able to take him into custody around 6:18 p.m. Police have not yet released details about the man’s identity or the specific charges he faces.

Nearby residents were evacuated for safety during the incident but were allowed to return home once the suspect was arrested. Footage captured from a helicopter showed the man lying face down by the pool, with two shotguns visible on a nearby table. He appeared to be breathing and making slight movements.

The owners of the home expressed confusion, stating they did not know the suspect or where the weapons came from. This incident raises questions about the safety of neighborhoods and the challenges law enforcement faces in such situations.
