Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Key Events on Day 1,121

Russia launched a significant drone attack on Odesa, a city on Ukraine’s Black Sea coast, injuring three teenagers and causing fires. This assault occurred overnight as Czech President Petr Pavel was visiting Ukraine, highlighting the ongoing conflict’s intensity.

In a separate incident, Russia accused Ukraine of attacking a major gas pumping station near Sudzha, close to the Ukrainian border. Moscow labeled this action as "an act of terrorism." However, Ukraine’s military denied any involvement in the incident.

The situation escalated further when Ukrainian drones triggered an explosion at a military airfield in the Engels district of Russia’s Saratov region. Local officials reported a state of emergency in the area, with ten people injured and several buildings damaged.

In response to these developments, Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed to have destroyed 132 Ukrainian drones during an overnight operation across six regions, with 54 of these reported in Saratov. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s air force stated that it intercepted 75 of the 171 drones launched by Russia. Additionally, 63 drones were reportedly lost due to electronic warfare tactics.

This series of events underscores the ongoing hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides continuing to engage in military actions that affect civilians and infrastructure in the region.
