Santa Ana police have arrested a 48-year-old woman in connection with the fatal stabbing of her 11-year-old son at a local motel. The tragic incident occurred Wednesday morning at a La Quinta Inn.
The mother, whose name has not been released, called the police around 9:25 a.m. to report the stabbing. Officers arrived shortly after and found her in a hallway outside their room. She was taken into custody without any resistance.
During the police investigation, it was revealed that the mother had ingested a large amount of an unknown substance. As a result, she was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but remains in custody and is reported to be in stable condition.
Sadly, the young boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities recovered a knife believed to be involved in the incident. Police spokesperson Natalie Garcia stated that they believe this was an isolated event and there are no other suspects involved.
