A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to an astonishing 400 years in prison for sexually assaulting young girls at his home during sleepovers. Brandon Xiong was convicted of multiple felonies involving four girls aged between 5 and 10. The abuse came to light when one of the victims told her mother about the incidents back in October 2018. This disclosure prompted an investigation that uncovered additional victims.
Xiong lured the girls to his home for sleepovers, where he would carry them to a secluded area while they slept and assault them. The Sacramento County district attorney’s office reported that Xiong faced nine felony charges, including forcible lewd acts upon a child and sex acts with minors under ten years old.
Details about how the girls were allowed to stay at Xiong’s home were not disclosed. However, his actions have had devastating effects on the victims and their families. In addition to the serious charges, Xiong received a multiple victim enhancement, which means he will serve consecutive sentences for each crime against different victims or for acts against the same victim on separate occasions.
Xiong’s criminal history includes a previous conviction for attempted first-degree burglary. Due to California’s three-strikes law, this prior conviction significantly impacted his sentencing. Under this law, a third felony conviction can lead to a life sentence.
Xiong’s lengthy sentence is one of the most severe for sexual assault crimes in California. Recently, other offenders have also received harsh sentences, including a man sentenced to 435 years for multiple counts of sexual assault and another who received a staggering 1,503 years for raping his daughter over several years.
While Xiong’s sentence is severe, he may be eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 20 years. This case highlights the ongoing issues of child sexual abuse and the legal system’s response to such heinous crimes. The community remains shaken, and the victims’ families are left to cope with the aftermath of these traumatic events.
