Trump Plans to Reach Out to Putin to Discuss Resolution of Ukraine Conflict

Peace talks between Ukraine and Russia are ongoing, with some progress reported. Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy to the Middle East, recently met with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a lengthy discussion. Their meeting lasted between three to four hours, and while Witkoff did not disclose specific details, he mentioned that both sides have made strides in narrowing their differences.

Ukraine has shown willingness to support a U.S.-backed cease-fire. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Putin of intentionally stalling negotiations. Zelensky believes that this delay is a tactic to strengthen Russia’s position by trapping Ukrainian forces.

In the Kursk region, tensions escalated as Putin demanded the surrender of Ukrainian troops. Over the weekend, after intense fighting, Ukrainian forces retreated from most of the area, now holding only a small section of land within Russia.

The situation remains fluid, and both sides continue to seek a resolution amidst the ongoing conflict. The discussions about power plants and other critical issues are expected to be a significant part of future negotiations.
