L.A. Marathon This Sunday: Which Roads and Freeway Ramps Will Be Closed?

More than 25,000 runners are set to participate in the 40th Los Angeles Marathon this Sunday, March 17, 2024. The race will begin at 7 a.m. at Dodger Stadium and will finish in Century City.

The marathon route will take participants through some of Los Angeles’ most iconic neighborhoods. Runners will head northwest toward Los Feliz, then west to West Hollywood, and southwest through Beverly Hills. They will reach Brentwood before making their final push toward the finish line at Santa Monica Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars.

As the race approaches, drivers in the area should prepare for road closures. According to event organizers, closures will begin as early as 3 a.m. on race day. Roads closest to the starting line will reopen around 9 a.m., while most streets will open by 1 p.m. The last barricades near the finish line are expected to be lifted by 8 p.m.

Key closures include several ramps on the north- and southbound 101 Freeway and the north- and southbound 110 Freeway, particularly between Temple Street and Hollywood Boulevard. These ramps are anticipated to reopen by noon. Additionally, the southbound 405 Freeway’s Wilshire Boulevard exit will be closed from 4:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
