A group of 86 passengers managed to escape from a train in Balochistan, Pakistan, after a terrifying attack. Muhammad Bilal, one of the freed hostages, shared his relief, saying he couldn’t find the words to describe the fear they experienced during the ordeal. Another passenger, Allahditta, was released due to a heart condition. He recalled the chaos as people hid under their seats when the attackers stormed the train.
The incident happened near Quetta, where the local railway official confirmed that the group of escapees included women and children. They walked to the nearest railway station, Panir, after leaving the train. This area is known for its challenges, as many roads were closed, making it difficult for anxious family members to reach their loved ones.
Families gathered at the Quetta railway station, anxiously seeking news about those still on the train. One passenger’s son, Muhammad Ashraf, expressed his worry after losing contact with his father, who had traveled from Quetta to Lahore. Another relative, Imran Khan, voiced his concern for his cousin and her small child, who were on their way to Multan. He lamented the lack of information about their safety.
Officials have reported that communication with those still on the train has been difficult due to the area’s lack of internet and mobile service. Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest province and is rich in natural resources, yet it remains one of the least developed regions in the country.
As the situation unfolds, families continue to hope for the safe return of their loved ones, while the authorities work to manage the crisis.
