An investigation has been launched into the tragic deaths of Hollywood actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, after their bodies were discovered at their residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The couple was found deceased on Wednesday, with Mr. Hackman’s body located in a mud room and Ms. Arakawa’s in a bathroom. Additionally, a deceased German shepherd was found in a closet near Ms. Arakawa.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adam Mendoza revealed that it appeared several days, possibly even up to a couple of weeks, had passed since the couple had passed away. While initially stating that there were no apparent signs of foul play, Sheriff Mendoza later mentioned in an interview that he was not ruling out that possibility.
Despite the absence of evidence pointing to a carbon monoxide leak, the Fire Department did not detect any signs of such a leak during their investigations. Santa Fe’s Fire Chief Brian Moya confirmed that multiple searches of the property did not yield any indications of a gas leak. However, he emphasized that there were still numerous unanswered questions surrounding the tragic incident.
The sheriff’s office is actively conducting the investigation, aiming to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa. As the community mourns the loss of the beloved couple, authorities continue their efforts to uncover the truth behind this heartbreaking event.
