Teens Assault L.A. Driver for the Third Time in Recent Months

Los Angeles police are searching for a large group of teenagers on bicycles who violently assaulted a man in broad daylight after he confronted them about damaging his car. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and Carrillo Drive in the Carthay neighborhood, just east of Beverly Hills.

Witnesses reported that the confrontation began when the group of 20 to 30 teens, estimated to be between 16 and 18 years old, collided with the man’s vehicle. After the man exited his car to address the situation, he was met with aggression from the group. Video footage of the incident shows the man being kicked and punched, ultimately falling to the ground where the assault continued. The group fled the scene, riding south on Carrillo Drive as bystanders attempted to intervene.

Emergency responders treated the man for minor injuries at the scene, but he declined further medical attention at a hospital. This incident marks at least the third violent encounter involving groups of bike-riding teenagers and drivers in Los Angeles in recent months, raising concerns about safety and aggression on the streets.

In previous incidents, such as one in January, a group of teens vandalized a vehicle after a driver came too close while they were riding. Another altercation occurred in August when a driver was attacked at a red light after trying to maneuver around a group of cyclists.

Los Angeles Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky expressed her distress over the recent attack, stating, "My heart goes out to the young man who was assaulted and his family, and I’m relieved to hear that he is recovering." She emphasized the city’s commitment to addressing violence and ensuring accountability for those responsible. The LAPD is actively investigating the incident and encourages anyone with information to come forward by contacting the Wilshire Division at (213) 922-8229 or (877) LAPD-24-7 during non-business hours or weekends.
