Man Arrested Again After Conviction from To Catch A Predator Sting Operation

A 63-year-old man, Robert Rudy Salinas, who gained notoriety nearly two decades ago as a participant on the reality television show "To Catch A Predator," has been arrested again, this time in Orange County, on charges of sexually assaulting a minor. Salinas was taken into custody by Garden Grove police on February 3, following allegations that he committed lewd acts with a teenage girl.

According to court documents, Salinas faces multiple charges, including committing lewd acts with a minor, meeting a minor to engage in lewd conduct, and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a specified offense. The alleged incident reportedly occurred on New Year’s Day and involved a victim aged between 14 and 15 years old. Police have not disclosed further details as the investigation is ongoing.

Salinas has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his attorney has yet to comment publicly on the matter. The charges against him have drawn attention to his past, particularly his previous conviction stemming from his appearance on "To Catch A Predator" in 2007. During that episode, Salinas believed he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl, promising to bring her food and treats. However, he was instead confronted by the show’s host, Chris Hansen, and subsequently arrested.

In that earlier case, Salinas expressed remorse, stating, “I deserve what you do to me, but I beg for your forgiveness,” as he faced the cameras. He was ultimately convicted of attempting to commit lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 and is listed on the Megan’s Law website, which tracks registered sex offenders.

The recent arrest has raised concerns and highlighted the ongoing issues surrounding sexual offenses against minors. As the case unfolds, authorities are urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving children.
