Trump Nominates Judge as Next U.S. Attorney for Southern District of Florida

President Donald Trump announced a series of key appointments within his administration on Sunday, highlighting a commitment to strengthening law enforcement and improving government efficiency. Among the nominees is Judge Jason Reding Quiñones, who has been selected to serve as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida. This decision underscores Trump’s ongoing focus on law and order, particularly in a region that has seen its share of legal challenges.

Judge Quiñones, a former federal prosecutor and a current state trial judge in Miami, brings a wealth of experience to the position. He also serves as a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserve. In his nomination, Trump emphasized Quiñones’ qualifications, stating that he will work to restore law and order and prosecute violent crimes, aiming to "make America safe again."

In addition to Quiñones, Trump appointed Jim Byron as the senior advisor to the acting national archivist at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Byron, who has prior experience with the NARA, is tasked with overseeing the archives on a daily basis while the administration seeks a permanent archivist. Trump noted Byron’s understanding of the importance of preserving the nation’s history as a critical asset for this role.

Another significant appointment was that of John Jovanovic as the chairman and CEO of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Jovanovic, who holds an MBA from The Wharton School and an undergraduate degree in politics from Princeton University, is expected to leverage his extensive background in finance and business to advance U.S. energy and manufacturing interests. Trump expressed confidence that Jovanovic would work diligently to uphold the administration’s tariff policies and ensure fair treatment for American exports.

These appointments reflect Trump’s broader strategy to combat government waste and abuse, as articulated by EPA administrator Lee Zeldin during a recent appearance on "Fox & Friends Weekend." Zeldin emphasized the administration’s "zero tolerance" approach toward inefficiency in government spending, particularly concerning federal green energy programs.

As these nominees prepare to take on their new roles, the Trump administration continues to focus on its agenda of enhancing security, preserving history, and promoting economic growth through strategic leadership appointments.
