An American tourist has gone missing in Turks and Caicos, causing concern among his family and friends. Brian Tarrance, 51, was last seen on June 25, shortly after leaving his Airbnb in Grace Bay. He was captured on security footage walking toward the downtown area around 3:30 a.m.
Tarrance had traveled to the island with his wife on June 22, and they were set to stay until June 29. The night he disappeared, his wife had gone to bed, and when she woke up, he was no longer at their rental. According to Carl DeFazio, a private investigator hired by Tarrance’s family, everything seemed normal leading up to his departure. The couple had enjoyed a boat trip and dinner together, just like any other vacationing couple.
DeFazio noted that Tarrance left the condo wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and sneakers, and he took his cellphone and wallet with him. Despite the seemingly safe area of Grace Bay, Tarrance’s sudden disappearance has left many puzzled. DeFazio remarked on the unusual nature of Tarrance’s departure, stating, “He’s in the middle of town. His wife was sleeping.”
Local authorities are actively searching for Tarrance. The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police have classified him as a missing person and are investigating the case. They are using drones to scan the area and reviewing CCTV footage from that night. DeFazio has also been trying to obtain records of Tarrance’s phone activity while on the island, although it has been a slow process.
In an effort to find him, flyers with Tarrance’s picture have been distributed widely, and there has been a positive response from local businesses and tourists who have offered to help. DeFazio expressed gratitude for the support from the community, stating, “We’ve blanketed the area with photos, put it on social media chats, and all kinds of things.”
As the search continues, police are urging anyone with information about Tarrance’s whereabouts to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
